Description

This Chicken Limone is a light yet flavorful dish featuring tender chicken cutlets bathed in a buttery lemon sauce. With a perfect balance of tangy citrus and savory richness, this dish pairs wonderfully with pasta, mashed potatoes, or a simple side salad.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Chicken:

  • 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts (halved lengthwise)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For the Lemon Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ½ cup chicken broth
  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • ¼ cup dry white wine (optional)
  • 2 tbsp capers (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  • Prepare the Chicken
Pat the chicken cutlets dry. In a shallow dish, mix flour, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, shaking off excess.

  • Sauté the Chicken
Heat olive oil and 2 tbsp butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook chicken for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through (165°F internal temperature). Remove and set aside.

  • Make the Lemon Sauce
In the same skillet, melt 3 tbsp butter. Add chicken broth, lemon juice, lemon zest, and white wine (if using). Stir and let simmer for 2-3 minutes.

  • Combine and Serve
Return chicken to the skillet, spoon sauce over the top, and let simmer for 2 minutes. Sprinkle with capers and fresh parsley before serving.

  • Enjoy!
Serve warm over pasta, rice, or with a side of roasted vegetables.

Notes

  • Brining (15 mins) makes chicken extra tender but is optional.
  • Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor. 🍋
  • Don’t overcrowd the pan—cook in batches if needed.
  • Adjust sauce thickness with broth (thinner) or simmering (thicker).
  • Gluten-free? Use cornstarch or GF flour.
